How Lirae Came to Be
Lirae was founded in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of practitioners who had spent years working inside organisations — in operations, HR, and team leadership roles — and kept noticing the same pattern. The companies that struggled most were not the ones without talent. They were the ones whose internal processes had never quite caught up with their growth.
New joiners were left to figure things out on their own. Managers were making up onboarding on the fly. Communication norms were inconsistent. None of it was malicious — it was simply that the team had grown faster than the systems around it. Lirae was set up to address exactly that.
We work with companies at a stage where small, deliberate changes can make a meaningful difference — usually teams of between 5 and 50, often in their third or fourth year, where they have outgrown the informal habits of their early days but have not yet put anything more structured in place.
Our Mission
To help growing companies in Malaysia build people processes that are clear, fair, and simple to follow — so that teams can focus on doing good work rather than working around unclear systems.
Clarity over complexity
We aim for recommendations that a busy manager can understand and act on immediately.
Respect for existing culture
We do not arrive with a standard framework and apply it regardless of context. Every engagement starts with listening.
Deliverables you can keep using
The documents, templates, and notes we produce are designed for the people who will use them long after we leave.
The Team
The People Behind Lirae
Our consultants bring backgrounds in operations, human resources, and team management — with experience across sectors in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Ahmad Hakimi
Principal Consultant
Ahmad has 14 years in people operations across logistics and professional services. He leads process reviews and advisory engagements, and knows how to spot where a team's informal workarounds have started to cost more than they save.
Siti Wulandari
Onboarding Specialist
Siti spent eight years designing onboarding programmes for retail chains and technology firms before joining Lirae. She has a talent for turning a chaotic first-week experience into something a new joiner remembers for good reasons.
Jason Lim
Operations Advisor
Jason's background is in internal operations management, where he spent a decade helping mid-sized companies restructure how their teams communicate and coordinate. At Lirae he focuses on the practical side of process adoption.
How We Work
Our Standards and Practices
Every engagement at Lirae follows the same set of working principles — regardless of scope or client size.
Scope Defined in Writing
Before any engagement begins, we agree and document exactly what will be covered, what will be delivered, and what falls outside scope. No ambiguity, no surprises.
Confidentiality as Standard
We sign NDAs before starting and handle all client documents and staff information with strict confidentiality. Nothing shared with us is discussed with third parties.
Regular Progress Updates
We check in at agreed intervals throughout each engagement so you always know where the work stands and can raise any questions as they arise.
Employment Law Awareness
Our recommendations are shaped with an awareness of Malaysia's Employment Act and common HR compliance requirements, though we refer clients to legal counsel for formal advice.
Deliverable Review Cycle
All documents and templates go through at least one review round with client input before being finalised. We want the output to reflect your context, not just our observations.
SSM-Registered Business
Lirae is a registered business in Malaysia. We issue formal invoices and operate transparently within the requirements for advisory firms under Malaysian commercial law.
Our Expertise
People Operations Consulting in Malaysia
People operations sits between HR policy and day-to-day management. It covers the processes a company uses to bring new staff into a team, communicate expectations, coordinate schedules, and support development over time. When these processes are clear and consistent, teams spend less time working around confusion and more time doing their actual jobs.
In Malaysia, many growing businesses still run these processes informally — which works well in the early stages when everyone knows each other, but becomes a source of friction as the team grows. A manager who previously knew every new joiner personally may now have people starting in departments they do not regularly visit. A communication norm that worked for five people stops working for twenty-five.
Lirae's consultants focus on the operational side of people management. We are not an HR outsourcing firm, and we do not handle payroll, recruitment, or legal compliance. What we do is look closely at how a company's internal processes are actually working — through conversation, observation, and document review — and then help design something clearer. The result is practical, written-down processes that managers can use straight away and adapt over time.
Our three engagements are deliberately small in scope so that each one can be completed carefully within a defined period. Companies often find that a single focused engagement gives their team enough clarity to keep improving on their own — and some return for the next stage when they are ready.
